Opportunities and Celebrations

I just wanted to give you guys a heads up on some dates and opportunities that I've run across on the internets...
First off, TODAY is the day to submit your Bead Star entry!
I know I'm getting this info to you kinda late, but I just found out about a week ago that they had extended the deadline to today.
I highly recommend submitting a piece. It doesn't even have to be something fancy, it could be a design that you've recently finished and are super excited about, but aren't quite sure to submit to a magazine or put it up for sell.
Check out the website for details here.
It's just a matter of loading a picture onto their website!

Also, I came across a Call For Submissions from Lark books.
They're the company that has created and published the 500 series of books which has become a showcase for some of the elite handmade talent out there.
Well, their most current call is for Beaded Jewelry.
If you want to give it a shot, the requirements are here.

I highly suggest downloading and reading the pdf entry file very carefully. The requirements for photos are very strict, and you'll have to do a little homework, but with the magic of the internet, it should be easy to get a handle on what they are asking of you.

This last one isn't so much an opportunity per se, but more of a celebration of already-established artists.
It's the Handmade Market in Raleigh, NC on April 23rd.
This was the first handmade market that I ever visited about two or three years ago, and it really made me fall in love with handmade.
If you're anywhere in the area, I suggest visiting. The participating designers are some extremely talented artists and I'm looking forward to seeing their art.

Here are just a few that I'm looking forward to:

And of course, Miss Rosy Revolver.
I really can't wait to see first-hand what this lovely lady has created!

I hope you'll check out a few of these links, and even some of the opportunities in your area. You never know what you'll come up with!
Enjoy your Friday!

  2. Thanks for the resouces Marcie! I just submitted my one entry to Bead Star last night. If I had time I would submit more, but it is not to be. And I would absolutely encourage people to submit. You never know until you try...and I won a category last year and second place the previous year!
    Enjoy the day!
