I work best under junk...

I'll show you the stuff I've been working on this week tomorrow, but until then, I thought I'd give you a...um...tour of the...um...desk where all the magic happens.
We bought the whole thing (it's an L-shape) at a salvage office supply store for $250. It's metal, so it weighs A LOT. We painted it a neutral creamy color, because it's just too big to be too colorful, and then I proceeded to fill it with beady stuff.
That there in front of the laptop is where I sit. The gray felt thingy is where I pour out little piles of seed beads. It has a lip so that they don't go rolling all over the place. (ingenious!)

This here is my high-tech storage unit for pliers and whatnot. (The whatnot is located in the little boxes below the pliers.) Also, I like to keep all my little storage baggies of stones pegged to the wall where I can see them because I love stones and I get a lot of color inspiration from them.

Believe it or not, all that blue and purple is a current color palette that I'm working with. The little plastic jars hold all my 4mm rounds and that's my favorite pair of scissors. They have sharp tips, perfect for cutting around bead embroidery.

I was asked once if I had a large seed bead stash...well, here it is. It's all in that big plastic snap-thingy and the clear flower vase (yes, I said flower vase) and white cardboard box to the right.

I really need to go through the beads and destash, right now I'm seeing a tube of yellow that will probably never get used.

It ain't much, but it's my little space, and it normally looks exactly like it does now, for all my talk about being organized, I can't keep my space clean, my ideas, however, are all written neatly down in a notebook so that I can keep track...maybe one day the neatness will spill over into my workspace....yeah right.

  1. I would feel right at home here, Marcie! Looks very similar to my space. I think I need to do a little tour of where I am creating. You have inspired me. Isn't it good that beads are so small and come in small packages? Enjoy the day!
