Bead Star

As I have previously mentioned...stringing, not my thing, however, I have been practicing as of late because I want to enter Bead Star. I feel that the whole point of a competition is that you stretch yourself outside of your comfort zone and go beyond your "norm" to create somethinig really fantastic.
So, I have a design in my cabeza, but it requires wrapped loops, so here's my practice loops. I'm finally at the point where I can create a wire-wrapped loop that doesn't draw blood. (YES!) I spent pretty much the first couple of days at this exercise murdering my fingers. They're okay now, and my wrappin' skills are slowly improving.
Anyway, on another note, I'd like to congratulate all the bead artists who made it into Beads 2010. I bought my copy yesterday and was so excited to see some of my bead buddies in there. So, bead buddies, if you're one of those that happen to pass by my humble abode, um...blog. Congratulations, you deserve it!
Oh, and also, thanks to all the people who commented on my earlier post about the landscape pendants... Ya' know how sometimes you think you've done something that is earth shattering and will change the face of jewelry making forever?? Well, and I'm being honest here, let's just say that my expectations for my pendants were a lot higher than the actual reception. That said, your comments really made me smile and realize that while my pendants won't shift paradigms, they are exactly what I wanted them to be.
Have a great day!

  1. Nice wire wrapping. I actually enjoy wrapping now. But goodness it took a long time to feel comfortable with it. Thanks for Beads 2010 congrats. I just got mine yesterday and was pretty excited. Good luck with Bead Star!

  2. Very nice wire wraps indeed! I have to get my hands on a copy of Beads...I love looking in magazines and seeing my bloggy friends! I hope to see you in Bead Star as well. It was a great honor being in there last year. And while there are no guarantees, I love the challenge. Enjoy the day! Erin

  3. Your wraps look great - it's not my favorite skill either but with patience and practice.... good luck with your entry.

  4. You're rockin' the wraps! :) I worked with my strawberry lemonade beads today. Pics should be ready tomorrow. I initially thought I'd use them all together, but I ended up with two cool things. I drooled all over the Beads 2010 issue, too, and decided I'm going to feature my blog buds in the coming days...wait'll you see!!!
