I've been a bit feather obsessed the past few weeks.
I think it started with this piece and it's just kind of grown from there.
A lot of it has to do with my recent attempts at sketching and learning to let things grow with pen and paper before I attempt to translate them into something more tangible.
These are made from laminate sample tiles. You know the little 2x3 inch tiles all lined up at Home Depot? I've watched jewelers use these tiles to create jewelry before and I wanted to see if I could put my own spin on it.
They are going to be the main event in a little collection of pendant necklaces. I'm currently working on the copper components that I'm going to use to hang the feathers and a little collection of complimentary stones and findings.
However......
I've been doing some mulling and I have a question....
IF, IF I were to offer a limited series of these, maybe slightly larger and in a variety of colors, would there be any interest out there in just purchasing the feather component for your own jewelry creations?
They are super lightweight, each one hand-sawn and riveted together using slim 18 gauge wire.
The reverse sides are painted in black to seal the back and I've drilled a hole in the top for hanging.
These are small, but I also have a few in the works that are larger (think a full 2").
I'd really like your opinion and please feel free to share the link to this post if you know someone who you think would be interested.
I've got a pile of laminate tiles in my kitchen just begging to be pendants, or charms, but I really want to know if the interest is out there before I put my pieces out there.
I do appreciate those of you who've already commented via Instagram, the feedback is always nice!
I hope you're having a wonderful week and I'm beginning to feel spring just around the corner!
Looks like we're both addicted to feathers. Mine are painted and cut from paper. Check this out: http://kokopellidesign.blogspot.de/2014/02/paint-party-friday-federnfeathers.html
ReplyDeleteThese are absolutely wonderful! I would definitely be interested if you were to make them available for others, dependant on what you would have to charge for them of course.
ReplyDeleteYESSSSSSSSS!!!!! I like them nice and small, and maybe not bigger, but I would LOVE to work with one, and I have a friend who would also LOVE to work with them!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYES, PLEASE! These are BRILLIANT. And I want every one of them. When you are ready to sell, do let us know. There is much work and artistry in these. I would never attempt to do this myself, so I am game to buy them from an expert. If I can't be your first sale, I won't be your last. Enjoy the day! Erin
